That'll teach me to beg for rain...I spent the morning working on the final exam, planning on typing all afternoon. At 3 pm, I told
mjules that I'd have to get off YIM because I thought I heard thunder. Then my connection was severed...no storm mind you just gone. Thank you Dial Up. Then I did hear the wind picking up so I started saving things so I could shut down. Just as I started the shut down, the power went out.
I went outside to move the plants to the edge of the porch to let mother nature water them. Suddenly out of nowhere the wind and rain come blindingly. I could barely move. The wind was that ferocious. My neighbors' plastic chairs were everywhere blowing into the court yard. I feel something electric and I dash back inside as a huge boom sounded. I look out the back door and the tree in front of the house across the street is smoking and in pieces. I can hear hail hitting the door. I do the natural thing, grab a camera and go out to take pictures (because I'm that dumb yes). my kitchen all but floods from all the rain drenching its way in. This storm is hitting ALL sides of the house at once
I get back inside and the storm lashes with blinding waters for no more than five minutes and it all goes quiet. I go back out the front and all the tomato cages in one row are down flat. The hanging plant is so heavy with water it's bent the shepard's hook to the ground. I release it. ALL the plants have no less than four inches of standing water. I take pictures then drain them. Roy the cat comes flying in, bloody paw and all (I may have to take him to the vet) I put him inside the house to eat then he wants out so into the lesser storm he goes.
It rains the rest of the day but nothing like that first five minutes. The power remains off. My beautiful snowcrab and sea scallops have to go back in the fridge because I have an electic stove. I read some, write some and finally am forced to go out to eat because it's that or starve. Just what I wanted, to be out on a holiday but no one was out and about (smarter than me) The mexican place was closed. The pizza joint, closed. That left Bennigans (ours sucks) Bob Evans (that's worse), Dakota's steak house and fast food. I opt for the steak house and i'm not in the mood for steak. Buffalo burgers were there so I went for that.
Now i'm playing catch up on that test. sigh.
