Writerly Ways and other stuff
Mar. 9th, 2014 10:38 pmLuckily someone else made the mistake of revealing her Love's Landscape title and then being reminded it has to be a secret since I nearly did the same thing. So let's talk about those pesky characters and the things they put us through.
I do have names for the boys (which might also have to remain a secret, I need to go reread) and maybe a title. But these boys are going to be a handful (this is for that fire fighter picture prompt)
For one, I need to work in volunteer firefighting into the story. Know what I know about that? I think
ozma914 is one. That's what I know. Does Backdraft count? Ironically I know far more about the forensics of a fire inspector and do I have time to research this in the 6 weeks I have to write this. Oh hell no. Here's hoping I can hand wave over that.
Werewolf boy states that since his pack is Appalachian he has to love bluegrass. I tried to argue this. I might have to listen to this to write to. I DID listen to the suggestions I got on FB and reinforced what I knew already. I don't mind the instrumentals like Foggy Mountain Breakdown but the high pitched whiny voices make me homicidal. We've compromised. He can like Alison Krauss and the Union Station AND Americana like Christian Kane (and if you have not heard him sing outside of Angel or only know him from Leverage, go check out Kane).
I think the vampire insisted on this compromise. He loves music. Bluegrass makes the urge to rip out someone's throat unbearable. I know the vampire was involved in Pankration back in his mortal days. In fact Dioxippus would make for a good former identity and cover story for why he came back from the dead.... He loves telling people about those days. He has an obol from when he died and an olive oil amphora with his picture painted on it from the Olympics (Yes, they really did athlete endorsements way back then. See, I know Ancient Greece but firefighting eludes me).
I know the Druid has to ride herd on those two and is surprisingly the most dominant even though he is more book guy for the organization (As of now he's a D.O./Ph.d and does the pathology for the organization). He is a mix of modern day Druids and whatever magic I cook up. Sort of like a younger Giles really.
I know that the world got to know vampires existed after Stoker outed them (I'm seeing him as a tangentially part of the organization). Werewolves came out shortly after in WWI and magic users in WWII.
How does that all sound?
Other than that I cleaned (it feels like I cleaned all day but not much seems changed) and found a pair of Roy Mustang earrings ELD had bought for me...still in the package, inside another package inside a make up case. WTF? I don't know how long they've even been there. I suck. Also, I packed. I'll be in PA all week. I'll be seeing my surgeon. I wish break was a week later since David Garret will be in Pittsburgh then and I just don't have two trips in me, back to back.
Craig Ferguson will be producing I f*cking love science cool.
Speaking of WWI have some neat WWI meta
declutter day 216 item tossed -X-kai manga why kept -Read it, why toseed -Meant to send it to someone years ago and I don't think it ever went beyond the next volume. Off to half price books
