I made it home
Jan. 4th, 2017 11:21 pmIt was a bright sunny drive and as it turns out I don't have a meeting tomorrow. I could have sworn it was for 2 days but it's only friday. Ah well, it matters now. tomorrow is supposed to snow anyhow so I still would have wandered home today.
Apparently the leak in my bathroom got worse because a towel that tumbled out of the opened cabinet (I opened it in case it got super cold so that way the pipes would have heat) was wet, the floor is stained brown and there is a big plaster stain on the ceiling. Tomorrow I have to talk to the landlord and see if he finished fixing it or what before that ceiling comes down.
I got home to find out my friend, Paulle died of cancer today. I've known Paulle since I was in high school, I want to say 82 or 83, one of the first people I met in Elfquest fandom but didn't really get to know her well until later when I joined her starship in a Star Trek RPg where you wrote stories for your characters (and others). Ah the paper zine days. I do miss them sometimes. We talked on the phone often though it caused issues with her jealous girlfriend. It was because of that and me having to drop the RPG thanks to my medical residency. evil_little_dog who had found her on both LJ and FB.
I'm grateful for the time I had with her. I knew when she said she had lung cancer that her time was far more limited than maybe even she knew because I know what a fucking bear lung cancer is. It's survival rate is less than 15%. I am glad her suffering is over because these last several weeks had been very hard on her as it had spread to her brain. Death is not the worst thing that can happen to someone. Blessed be, Paulle.
Now I really want to get back to working on Deadwood as she edited it for me.
