Day 1 so after PT I went to the Apple Festival. For once I actually was having the back pain I was supposed to be there for. This is what happens, this is WHY I need the MRI on my back. It happens like this. Something pressed on the nerves. I can do bridges all day in PT. They've been mixing it up to make it harder. Today I couldn't lift my hips off the table and they were stunned. I'm like at least you're seeing this. It's NOT all in my head.

So from there I went to the library to see the quilt show because I love that. They had two like I want to do, ones made of T-shirts. I liked how they came out. I really need to try this some day.

I found a good parking place to get to the vendor hall in the memorial building and it was...just not as good as in the past. Don't get me wrong, it was packed with vendors but nothing I was much interested in. Even the jewelers I got that bracelet from 2 weeks ago had very little (I think they've been picked over in the last two festivals). I got some pickles from one and the guy who was carving with a chainsaw had a small christmas tree under 20$ so now it's mine.

I also went to the midway portion, got me some Italian ice (because I can't say no to it) and some rosettes and went into the Apple festival art show at the Markay theater. It was underwhelming but there were a few pieces I really liked. After that I went home. It's really not much of a festival but it's in the closest thing I have to a hometown these days so...

And oh, something for fannish 50. I have many many mystery/police procedural shows. I've never been motivated to join their fandoms outside of Prodigal Son which ate me whole. But that's been canceled three years now.

But that's not what I'm here to talk about. I'm excited one of my current favorites (not one I write for) is back. Van der Valk, an Ámsterdam set police procedural (but very British in casting). honestly the titular character you want to punch most days but it's a good series.




ETA - one of my credit cards made me go full on Let Me Speak To Your Manager Karen... So one of my cards got hacked last year and they never replaced it. Then the cancer came and I forgot about it until I got a letter 2 weeks ago saying if I don't use the card they'll close the account and I'll lose all my points. I called them on the 10th and asked for a new card after getting assurances I would NOT lose my points.

I got the new card today. Went to activate it only to get 'you can't activate this card, the account is closed.' Are you fucking kidding me? 'Do you want to talk to a representative.' Damn right I do. I explain the situation. He goes I'll check. Comes back and says nope sorry your account is closed.

So I asked, why then would you even SEND the card less than 2 weeks after speaking to me if the account was closed and my 20 years of points are gone?!?

I'll check on that. Comes back, nope sorry can't help you.

Manager, now.

She fixed it in two minutes and in theory i can use the card in 2 days. We shall see.
