Well Day 4 was going to talk to new people so no real post for that. I was offline last night so I missed Day 5. Catching up now.
Day 5
In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. How did you come to fandom, why did you choose your fannish name, do you have more than one secret identity? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I've told this story often. In 1977 I went to Star Wars for my 10th birthday and fell in love with Han, Luke and Leia. I started writing stories for them and sharing them with my friends. In High school I branched a little into Star Trek and heavily into Elfquest. These were in the paperzine days and pretty much since you had to have your mailing address out there, there were no pen names.
In 1998, I moved online with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and this was before everyone worried about stalkers etc so that was still in my name. When I finally made my blogs, I entitled them Cornerofmadness because frankly there is some crazy stuff in my head and my life is just plain weird. It took me a while, years, before I found an old college newspaper that I was one of the editor/writers for and saw the head editor used that as his byline. So that's why it was in my head.
Day 6
In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. A picspam. Something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I've been busy with a livejournal comm all holiday long
