I’ve been a bit too busy to really put forth a lot of effort into this week’s writing post. I find it ironic that last week I was angsting over whether or not I’m doing justice to my Native American characters and then our government names the strike against Bin Laden “Geronimo.” What the hell? Talk about insensitive and offensive on all levels. I can just imagine the thought process ‘well that Geronimo fellow eluded us forever, let’s name it after him…’ Twits.
So what do I have for you here:
my original fiction offering for
helpthesouth in case you missed it last night
Mostly I’m going good on my space pirate erotica but I REALLY have to step that up. I could use a beta or two who is willing to do a quick beta (and/or look at half now, half later)
Other than that I have to say, as much as I dislike twitter on the whole, it’s being a real help in finding writing links. I’m going to share a bunch with you now.
Donald Maas literary agency I’m putting this here, less for the agency (which is primo by the way) and more for his ‘break thru novel’ prompts.
book country This is a beta community moderated (in part) by an agent
mjaedin turned me on to. I need to give this comm a serious look-see. I think it might be very helpful (Need to look up the faq sheet to see if you have to be published to join)
epub clients daily epublisher is an agent that deals with ebook erotica so there is some helpful info for people looking at the genre
mystery writing is murder a mystery writing/publishing blog
Echelon Press Author Daily another writing blog
story a day It’s a prompt writing community where you’re supposed to come up with a short story a day….probably not going to happen on my end but doesn’t mean I won’t peek in to see if I can find prompts to get me moving.
Speaking of which, I did pluck one of Donald Maas’s.
In your current scene, what’s the strongest emotion? Why is it welcome? Why not? What’s good about it? What’s utterly wrong?
Confusion. It’s welcome because Telek has been kept in a cell inside the fight compound his whole life, everything about ship life and socializing is new to him. Why is it not welcome, mostly because of word count. The one thing about short stories, you don’t have time to explore. It’s good because it gives another dimension to Telek and it allows Al to feel protective of Telek, bringing them closer, quicker. What could be utterly wrong is if it veers too deeply into insecure land. Telek is strong but it would be easy to undermine that.
Yearly word count -
26424 / 125000 words. 21% done!
Space Pirates -
5581 / 10000 words. 56% done! (this really ISNT good. I've not even established a relationship yet. oh boy

Date: 2011-05-08 08:16 pm (UTC)I also hear Germany is interested in pursuing a war criminal status for the U.S. firing on/shooting/murdering an unarmed Bin Ladin. But that's another story for another time.
Hmmm, emotions...hmmmm.
