And happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] salomesensei. It's not only your birthday but Mardi Gras. HAVE FUN!

Photobucket

Have a little music to set the mood- Bon Temps Rouler

So I got all dressed up FOR Mardi Gras. The older students got a laugh. More of them were 'why is she wearing a mask'. It's Mardi Gras. What's that? Seriously. What's That?! These people make my brain bleed.

I couldn't find my memory stick for the camera (why was it NOT in the computer if it was OUT of the camera I do not know) and the one I grabbed on the fly was full (and you can't put it in the ancient computers at work) so I had to come home and take it myself after finding the right card. I hate that. It never looks right (also the way windows 8 does photos fucking sucks. they have made it SO difficult)

But here is the best one. At the end of a long day. with a cut under my eye (that I have NO idea how I got it). And boy my eyes are green today.

Here, have my boobs and all my beads.

I was despairing of seeing any dogs I like on the dog show. I inevitably get to see the toy dogs. I'm not a fan. I know many of my friends have them, great just not for me. FINALLY got to see sporting and working dogs. I loved the Blue Roan English Cocker Spaniel, the Tibetan Mastiff, the Newfie and the Neopalitan Mastiff (granted most of these still aren't for me but I think they're lovely). Seriously the blue roan coat was gorgeous and I've been told the English version are smarter than the American cockers which frankly all the ones I've met were so dumb they made Irish Setters look like theoretical physicists.

I had a weird dream in the few moments I actually slept. (the last two nights have been bad diabetes nights were every 45 minutes I had to get up to pee). I was with [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog and we were fighting. We were in her house but it was the one in FL (and yet it was right now, like maybe she repainted her current place blue and yellow). I kept saying I was leaving if she kept making stupid choices and she was mad because I wasn't happy she had a new job that was better than her current one. I'm like but you have to moved to NJ. And in the bad part of it up near NYC. She wasn't listening to me but finally confessed that she really wanted to talk to [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom but knew Mom wouldn't want to talk to her because of the job. Turns out the new job was in debt collection and I kept saying that is NOT better than retail. She wouldn't listen so finally I'm like whatever, go do it. You'll be sorry. So ELD, do not get a job in debt collection. My subconscious will not support you.

Declutter day 27 item tossed- Inner computer box why kept -kept in case I needed to send back why tossed -Not sending it back, been here for months

But I worked debt collection for nearly twenty years - we just called it Child Support. :D

Happy Mardi Gras! I didn't even wear any green, purple or yellow to work. Or go get beignets, which were being sold at 2-3 places in town.

that's less sleazy somehow

I was going to make beignets then remembered the fryer wasn't cleaned and I wasn't up to it so I made cookies and now i'm drinking beer

Totally missed it.

This being sick thing really sucks. There was a tram that went up and down Franklin Street on Friday night, and you got to go visit all the bars and restaurants along the street that were having Mardi Gras theme stuff going on. I was too ill to go.

No one knew what it was when I first moved up here, but that's changing, obviously.

it's a world wide thing. I have no idea how they don't know. Not Catholic enough?

There is a big Catholic church in town (I'd like you to see it if you ever come to visit again), but most people here practice other religions.

I wore purple and gold (well, khaki) to work Tuesday, but nobody else celebrated. They didn't even bring in a lousy king cake from Publix. Sigh. Yet half of them will show up this morning (Wednesday) with ash smeared on their foreheads. Go figure.

I like your mask and beads, and yes, your eyes were very green! Gearing up for St. Patrick's Day, I guess, speaking of holidays one celebrates with beer and greenness (but hopefully not in the same glass).

those are the 'better than thous' they won't sully themselves with the sins of mardi gras

thank you and very green. I heard people complaining the other day they won't read a book if it has green eyed heroes because they're so rare. Um? I know lots of green eyed people

OK, I'm going to be really nerdy here and ask what krewe the medallion is from.

I recognize the jester beads as being specific to Krewe D'Etat, but I can't quite make out the medallion. Looks like Krewe of Nomtoc maybe?

I don't know why this is important to me, but for some reason it's bothering me. LOL

Also, Happy (belated) Mardi Gras. Dear god I'm glad it's over! LOL

haha have to admit, the medallion isn't from a real krewe. It's a banner for Land of the Torches Indian Casino in WI

Yes frankly I don't know how the natives of NO survive it yearly. Too many people for me
