None touched here but I'm betting my graveyard of styrofoam headstones is probably somewhere over Kentucky about now. Yikes.

I forgot to mention I did a bad thing. Big Lots was having 20% off everything sale on the weekend. I bought so much crap including nearly 30$ of cat stuff. A new scratchy post-toy combo. He batted the feather twice and went meh. And a bed. He's scared of it. head desk.

Frankly the little douche is lucky I buy him anything. Here was today's scenario. Kanda Pats my arm. I want up. Pat I want up. Pat UPS! (picks up) OMG NOOOOOOO! DOWN I WANT DOWN
Me- nope you psychopath, you sit here (squirm squirm squirm).
Later talking to mom I tried to get him to come over with me. NOPE
The moment I start to get up, he jumps into my lap. cat, you're a douche

Hey tonight was an NCIS that didn't suck. Young Ducky dancing to Mod music (looking far more interested in Angus than he was in the woman he was supposed to be in love with).

It was an interesting Dr. Who But really? fucking moon spiders?? Mom wouldn't even watch it. And no bullshit about them being 1 cell organisms because I will have to crack out the size to surface area ratio rule on you.

Honestly I didn't even notice the anti-abortion theme. In retrospect, I see what they're saying but I didn't get that at the time. I got 'shall we kill to save our own skins?'

I don't think much of Clara one way or the other but I did think Jenna did a very good job at the end and she's right. the Doctor has a LONG history of protecting the Earth. He deserved to have her give it to him with both barrels for what he did. Sorry Moffat but you can't have 10 and 11 giving big speeches about how protected Earth is and have 12 act like he doesn't give a wet fart. It doesn't work. Yes, each new incarnation is a bit different but not so different it seems like he's been brain damaged.

Also did anyone else have trouble with the Doctor telling that girl she wasn't special? That seemed a bit harsh, yes yes I know the new Doctor is harder but still. he's a father, a grandfather and seems to have at least been relatively nice to kids and has shown an understanding of them in the past. that seemed weird. I'm not even a huge kid person myself but I wouldn't say that to one.

My cats won't do cat beds. They have a cardboard box with fleece in it. they like that. But actual, legit cat beds? Never. I need to get Gandalf a new scratchy thing. He's got one of those kitty wave things, which is basically carpet on a curved board. But he's too big for it now and he likes to STREEEEEEEETCH when he scratches, so I need something taller.

I'm having conflicted feelings about the current Doctor Who eps. I've liked them somewhat, but I have massive problems. And yes, you're right... I feel the they've pushed the Doctor too far into asshole territory. And I remember Eleven saying something along the lines of a thousand years of time and space travel and he's never met someone who wasn't special. I do like Capaldi a lot, but I just want to see more than just rude Scotsman. I'm glad Clara told him off. Like you, I don't think much of her one way or the other. I like her more this series than I did with Smith. She was too much of a "mystery" and less a character then. But it's not thrilling me having her as a glorified babysitter. Her scenes with the Doctor are my least favourite. I do like her chemistry with Danny though.

Kanda likes his cube, one of those toys with the holes they can go in. Now if I could only get him to claw something OTHER than my carpet.

You are not alone in the massive problems department. I think Capaldi himself is fine but the writing is just failing hard. I agree. He's too much of an asshole and yes Eleven did say something like everyone is special.

Hmm you know, you're right, Clara is less a mystery now. I am not enjoying her with Danny, well in one respect. She keeps calling him a killer because he's a soldier (with obvious PTSD) and then calling it a 'joke.' I find that horrible and disrespectful

Ah, cats. Nature's little douches. When Dickens had a hurt leg (I blame maintenance workers, but that's another story), I bought him those padded stairs from the couch and soft beds for him to sleep on. Did he use any of that, even though I smeared everything with catnip? No, he did not.

Quantum ignores his scratching post, even though it is identical to the previous one he loved. Fortunately he likes the cat condo/scratching post combo. Fickle creatures.

I totally forgot about the sale! Dammit!

cats are nature's jackholes. I am not surprised at Dickens or Quantum.

oops. I was waiting for that sale.

I'm not liking the writing on the new season at all. This is my fourth Doctor, but this one's ... not. Maybe earlier Doctors were like this, but not the ones I've known. they need to lighten up a bit and make The Doctor someone who cares again.

I'm with you. I think he's making a huge mistake trying to run backward 50 years. A huge chunk of his audience never watched the 20th cen. Doctors (including me. I didn't LIKE them) I think if he keeps this up this might be the last Doctor

the last Doctor

That's what I'm afraid of ... after all, the reboot has already lasted a lot longer than many successful TV shows.

yes this is true and that crossed my mind. I certainly hope not. I think I would feel bad for Capaldi. He loves the character and is so damn excited to BE him. It would be a shame for the writers to be intentionally grounding it

Agreed -- and it does seem to be the writers who are the problems, not Capaldi.

I keep hoping either a) they're going somewhere with all this or b) they're at least settling down a bit. each one gets a bit better but it's hard to believe the complete 180 they did with this character

sometimes, you just have to do a good coverage paint (like Kilz) as a base, see how the paper holds up, then apply your color (or regular white)

removing the paper isn't always the best option

our friend Christine moved into an all carpeted, all wall papered house and has come to loathe both so much that sightings still bring on a 15 minute tirade

No it's not and yes we DID paint over some of it.

hahaha, I can handle carpet but man some of that wallpaper is shudder worthy

"Do not enter unless you're a level 13 mage" I lost it XD

And Kanda is a mega douche. My cat Flop just wants scratchies on his head and to rub up against my legs, but when I pick him up he does this lean thing where he kinda looks like he wants to jump away but then I start giving him scratchies and he just kinda hangs out there for a little bit purring and looking like he's going to leap off at any second.

hahah

Kanda is which is why he's named that. Not sure if you ever watched D. Gray-man but Kanda Yu is pretty much a good looking asshole

Starfire used to be like that. As she's become more elderly, she more inclined to a want climb into my lap, (even if my lap is full of other stuff, she will just crawl right under it pushing her way in. Olive on the other hand is liked Star was when she was young.

Date: 2014-10-08 06:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
Kanda will also push under or sit on anything in my lap, including the netbook

From: [identity profile] ishte.livejournal.com

Olive is definitely not a lap cat.  Star used to never want to be in my lap. So their behavior is so similar at the same age that I expect Olive will want to be in my lap all the time when she starts getting old.

That's possible. Kanda DOES like being in the lap but only when it's his idea. Which I wish he'd get the idea more when I'm on the couch watching tv and NOT when I'm at the computer working

Cats are all douches, in their own ways. :) Churro is currently sleeping in Bo's bed (inside the dog crate) and the dog is on our bed. So it goes.

Yeah, pretty much yeah, everything you said about Doctor Who. I did like the episode overall, but... yeah. I really wanted to like him and prove I wasn't all "one Doctor," but... yeah.

Date: 2014-10-08 09:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
cats sure are. That's pretty funny. Bo seems to have found himself a suitable replacement bed.

I did like the episode but yeah, I know. I think A LOT of us are pretty upset with the direction they headed. 50 years into the past to recreate the original Doctor's harshness wasn't a good choice. He's grown since then and we weren't given a good reason for him to turn into an uncaring jackhole. I DO like that Clara teaches at the same school as his original human companions.

From: [identity profile] wildrider.livejournal.com
Yeah, you can't fault Bo!

He seems even harsher than 1, somehow, though. Maybe it's better to have the Doctor be an actor no one's heard of than someone so well-known that people Expect Something. I don't know what. It just seems out of character, somehow.

Not one whit. The dog knows what he's doing.

You might have a point there. I'm not sure I expected much since I'm not that familiar WITH Capaldi to be honest. I'd like to think with less dreary, less assholey lines he'd be just as enjoyable as the others

I'd seen him in a couple of things (notably, the Doctor Who episode "Fires of Pompeii" and "Torchwood: Children of Earth"--which he was spectacular in), but I'd heard all about his amazing career, and I know people who think he's the absolute bomb.

Watching him play the Doctor, though, I think he would have been a better choice for The Master.

Date: 2014-10-09 01:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
yes I did see him in Fires of Pompeii (which I assumed the Doctor got his face from since doesn't he sometimes replicate people he's seen?) That's the one Torchwood I haven't seen.

hmm you might have a point there
