That actually went worse than expected

I was still cleaning when they got here. Actually Mom didn't say much other than 'Our clean is NOT your sister's idea of clean.' My brother on the other hand immediately starts bitching about the clutter and the smell. He KNEW Soul pissed everywhere. He had to rip out his own carpet after his male cat did that so he knows how hard it is to get rid of the smell. I know it still smells and I should have maybe vacuumed yesterday so it wasn't so bad today instead of this morning.
So long story short he and SiL shelled out 100$ for a hotel in Jackson. I feel so bad. I mean really bad. He keeps saying it's not my fault (and offered up something he tried that help before he redid his place.) But I still feel really bad even though I wanted them to go to a hotel anyhow because this place is a tad small for 4 people. I've felt so bad all day.
We went to the mud... I mean Bob Evans Farm Festival. Mom forgot her handicapped tag in PA so there was that extra added fun. I knew my brother would hate this. It is, mostly, nothing but a craft show. He did hate it and I did feel rushed at the end. I hate that.
I really DO prefer going alone half the time. But we did see almost everything. He bought a gallon of fresh cider. SiL bought junk food. Mom and I did buy the maple spun sugar, sweet pepper jelly and honey and I did buy one necklace piece, a HUGE hunk of amethyst. I wanted to buy more but she only does check and cash. Well who the hell has checks any more? I only pay rent with mine and I didn't bring that much cash. You drive up here from FL you'd think you want to make yourself as accessible as possible.
I did get to pet some animals and naturally there was a shetland pony starting shit because if you're in a barn and shit is started it's always going to be one of them.
I took them to campus (Brother still in awe of how many rednecks could be jammed in one spot). but I did something I NEVER do. I put my keys in my lunch pail and not my purse. couldn't get in. So felt like an ass again and it's been a whole weekend of feeling like one ever since last night. Sigh.
We all went to Jackson to the hotel. (which was surprisingly nice but awfully fucking expensive for a shit town in the middle of nowhere. wondering if that was jacked up prices for Bob Fest). Brother and SiL really liked Jackson. Okay I sort of do too. They saw a house they'd like me to buy. It's not bad but man I just SO do not want to live in town. Just the thought of it makes me reach for my asthma inhaler (which is a year out of date as my respiratory therapy SiL noticed and yelled at me)
We went to Arch and Eddie's which everyone liked. I got the chicken portabello which was 2 chicken breasts in a wine cream sauce. SO GOOD (and I have a chicken breast for tomorrow because I can't possibly eat 2) I also got Warlock, a pumpkin spice stout that was so good.
Mom and I came back and finally saw a Dr Who we didn't mostly dislike. It was really interesting tonight.
Oh and on the way up at the truck stop intersection we saw a major accident before even the cops got there. I don't know if the truck pulled out when he shouldn't have or if he was already in transit across the highway when this lady came flying the other way but my god the ENGINE was on the road a good 100 feet from the car and the 18 wheeler was up the road a tad an axle bent and half the bumper jammed in there.

I wish they'd do the cream filled donuts with maple icing on top. That'd be amazing.

Date: 2014-10-13 02:45 am (UTC)Ugh to the bitching. Blah. Sorry, but that's just rude. Especially given your limitations after your surgery. Sorry they made you feel bad. I wish I had known you'd have to do a bunch of cleaning sooner. You're not that far from me. I could have driven down last week to help for an afternoon. Next time something like this happens feel free to ask. And I do mean that. Not just saying it and hoping not to be taken up on it after the fact, ok? You can buy me a good stout. I'm really good at cleaning other people's houses. (Maybe not so much my own! LOL) Some people are just more cluttered than others. I read recently that is not necessarily a bad thing either. It's very common in people with a creative nature.
That pumpkin spice stout sounds very interesting. Where would you place it on the malty scale? i I also like Maple sugar candy. I bought a little packet of it the last time I got to go to the Yellow Springs Street Fair, and it lasted me for days.

Date: 2014-10-13 03:01 am (UTC)It was fairly malty but not too bitter like so me stouts can be.

Date: 2014-10-13 10:04 am (UTC)but it sounds like you had a mostly good time and visit, so yay. and ALL hotels are that expensive now. it seems the travel industry has quadrupled everything over the past decade. no one is using the word 'inflation' but it sure seems like we're living it
