I noticed a weak student had done very well on the last test and praised her. She looked very surprised at herself and then said 'I finally tried to read the book to see if it would help.' Week 15 of a 15 week semester and she just now made the connection. Bang.

And I got stuck making yet another 3 hour exam tonight only to have the printer die after hours and then had to slog home in the ice storm.

In better news because god knows we can use some, I have some fun links and some writing links.

Come see Anne Barwell's cover reveal here. It's lovely.

And my Christmas (Yule) short story got a great review. Read it here

These are amazing. Batman in 16 different time periods I love the Viking and Ottoman ones. Thanks for this Rain.

Because, you know, actually looking at a book doesn't do anything for your learning. *head desk*

That is a great review, and the second one isn't bad, either. :D

Yay, Batman.

EWWWW to curdled milk with beef dipped in. Just. EWW.

Remember, no toothpaste and very little dental hygiene. I'm betting vomit, rotting teeth, and ketosis.

Unsalted beef preserved in curdled milk. Lovely.

No doubt. I'd probably give them sense to chew mint and have a brush or rag for teeth cleaning (hmm they have healing magic. WHy do we never see a healing mage specializing in dentistry?)

That sounds almost as foul as the kahlea (spelled phonetically because I have no clue how it is spelled) Andrew Zimmern had on his Morocco (and a couple other Arabic places) where they preserved meat (often camel) with it's own rotting fat. Even he couldn't gag it down.

There is a second one. With a comment about needing Google.

Viking Boy's breath is AWFUL.

Probably has fleas. I spent the whole time my students were presenting their parasites today wondering who should I give these to.

Fleas, worms, lice. All the good ones.

Sadly the giant ball one is southern. Hmmm tapeworms are cold weather friendly and apparently so was dracunculus once upon a time

Who ever would have thought that reading the text book would actually help you with your schoolwork? Certainly not anyone who has made it to college. </ sarcasm>

I know, right? I made her spend that 300$ for nothing.

I was unable to read or respond to the friends' feed yesterday. LJ was having some odd, scattered problems. Ah well.

Thanks for sharing the batman link. That is really neat. And your student... Yeah, the book kinda helps. Sheeeez....
