writerly ways
Feb. 7th, 2021 10:09 pmI was going to write about something else but today's theme of my online teaching class was helping students past imposter syndrome, something I never thought about. I have some issues with this class of mine. On one hand I am ALL for fostering people but man there is so much hand holding they're suggesting we do. If I only had three classes maybe I could do this but not so much with my schedule.
I don't think I've ever considered imposter syndrome from a student stand point but it makes sense. I already do their suggested correction (talk about my own struggles and triumphants) but I am dealing with imposter syndrome myself right now. This weekend I posted two stories the one I posted last night and one today.
The one I posted last night Vengeance is an Emptiness Go to the comments, the last page of them if nothing else. People LOVED this story. I am proud.
Letting Go Again with the comments, I made people cry (this is a sad one)
And here comes the imposter syndrome. Why can I dp this in fanfic but NOT with my original fic? Why am I always so substandard there? Of course I realize I'm not substandard and fanfic has a built in readership. But it does cause me to wonder, to feel like I'm wasting my time with all of this.
So how do YOU deal with imposter syndrome?
