Okay so Cold November Rain was playing in the car when I got in but we were definitely having my subject weather.
I'm now down with finals. All I have to do is grade three more short online assignments and I'm done for the semester. Huzzah. It's been several boring days here with me not moving much and doing nothing but crafting and grading exams.
I've meant to do this since Thanksgiving.
mamculuna had this meme up on her LJ. "When you read this, you're tagged. Take a picture of you in your current state, no changing your clothes or quickly putting on makeup. NO PHOTOSHOP. Show your flist the real you!" Obviously I'm not tagging people and if you want to do it, go nuts. If you don't, that's cool too.
I actually saw it when I came back from the casino so here was that selfie.
but that might be fancier than intended so here's today's selfie too
It's taking super grainy any more. I know I need to get the pictures off the very small memory in this cheap phone because it's saying 'apps aren't working right, memory low.' And I think pictures is one of those things not working right.
While I'm at it have the bedspread Grandma did in the 70s I just got it at Thanksgiving.
My only non-finals accomplishment for the day was to submit my novella Cassadaga Nights to Nine Star Press (I had retracted it from Wayward last week but got no response to that either). We'll see.
Jana’s on a review site talking about her latest anthology story.
For Day 6 of the musical advent calendar I have Glenn Miller. One of my students was very excited to be part of a group going to the inaugration and now is considerably less excited for the obvious reasons. Anyhow it reminded me of the time my college jazz band was invited to Bush the first's ceremonies. It pissed icy rain. I got to meet Eddy Tarheel who was a big name newscaster in the pittsburgh area. I also got pneumonia and was sick as hell and spent the entire trip after the ceremony in my hotel room with a 103 degree temperature and nearly ended up in the hospital. However, I DID get to play In the Mood almost all of it as a sax solo at the Old Post office. I was told I did an excellent job (the fever had started at that time and I barely remember it other than being terrified because I had never played to an audience that big. I DO remember Arlen Specter shaking my hand and telling me how proud he was of me and I'm like you're a slimy bastard and I don't like you.
Anyhow any time I hear this song I smile and I am young again.

Date: 2016-12-07 06:19 am (UTC)The Nicholas brothers in that video are also a miracle.

Date: 2016-12-07 03:43 pm (UTC)Those brothers were such phenomenal dancers and then I feel a little bad because I assume they probably didn't get money and fame they deserved (heck half the Caucasian actors and actresses got ripped off back then so...) Though I could be wrong, especially about the fame because I'm fairly sure they were well known and well regarded.

Date: 2016-12-07 05:18 pm (UTC)I have heard of the those dancers in the past, so they still have some fame--but not nearly enough, nothing like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly.

Date: 2016-12-09 01:00 am (UTC)Savion Glover has stated that a movie could never be made about them because there aren't two dancers alive who could do what they did.
