Almost everything about today sucked

Well hell, the bathroom rug was wet the other day and I thought maybe Kanda had an accident but it wasn't urine. Tonight I saw it. My fan is leaking which means the roof is leaking. This year sucks.
And then a childhood hero died, R.I.P. John Glenn
And a student of mine went to the provost to bitch I didn't give her all the extra credit and 'cost her her A.' I'm glad of his answer which was you can't jump chain of command. You have to go talk to your professor then the chair and then the dean and only after that do you talk to the top of the chain. She did come in and I gave her the points just to prove it didn't matter. She blew the final. I'm sorry you earned a B and those points you got my BOSS involved in didn't give you the 3% to get the next grade so thanks for making things awkward because we have a full semester yet to get thru together. And what bothered me most was when I told L this, she didn't give a damn, couldn't get out of the room fast enough. Meanwhile for the last three years she's had someone complain about her and I was expected to offer comfort on multiple occasions about the same thing but as someone said at dinner tonight, if it's not about her, she doesn't want to talk about it.
Dammit, just triple checked. I really want to go to animazement again this year (as an author I like will be there (Maggie Stiefvater) not to mention all the great people I got to share a table with last year) but it is 100% overlapped with my professional conference in Salt Lake City. There needs to be more anime cons in the summer when I can go...
United Healthcare has changed their website and what I could find with one click before is now buried several clicks in and you can't even tell what it is. You just have to keep randomly opening PDFs to see statements. I can't keep track of my records this way. I'm actually going to have to call them to figure this out. No website should be this tough to navigate.
There were good things though. The guy we interviewed for the one semester position seemed nice and spoke well and hopefully will take our offer (which is pitiful but such is an adjunct's life) and he does have things we're looking for for the new full time position next fall, crosses fingers.
My chair, her wife and the Ochem prof went to Arch and Eddies for dinner. They now have a mead from a local winery where they raise their own bees, harvest the honey and ferment the wine. I'm a sucker for that. I want a bottle but I'm not sure I want to pay 30$ for it. I might go back tomorrow just for all the beer selections. No seriously my plan is laundry, booze then home to clean then go tell the landlord there's a leak (because if he wants IN here, it can't happen with this place looking THIS bad. I'd clean tonight but I feel so nauseated it's not happening (was the shrimp bad? too much milk in the egg nog? just upset?)
I had other music for tonight's musical advent calendar but it was too upbeat for me today. THIS brand new one from Abney Park (yes I'm repeating myself) captures how I feel, I can either fly or I can wear my armor but I can't do both. Abney Park's sound is so diverse. They're really worth a listen to. I'm sad that they're having New Year's party but it's in Seattle and I simply can't afford to do that.

Date: 2016-12-09 03:29 pm (UTC)I don't think there's a more popular steampunk band. They have tons of albums and all of them have a slightly different sound. Glad you liked that song.

Date: 2016-12-10 02:08 am (UTC)If you make a time line & mark it by chapter. So chapter 1: XYZ happens, chapter 2: ABC happens, chapter three: etc... When you do pass it off for a read over, they can check each chapter by your guide to amke sure there's no continuity errors. If you're done after the holidays, I can look it over for you. I just want to amke sure all my writing stuff is out of the way so I cna kick back & enjoy reading for a change. :D
You're welcoem! Thanks, I did! :D I had a sumo-sized bento box. XD (*is still full*)
