River Circus

I went to see the river circus tonight in Portsmouth with my friend, TH. It was a MUCH better day that last thursday, only about 80 and by night fall in the 70s. Portsmouth is further and I don't know it well and TH hasn't been there in many years. However I found the river front very easily.
TH wanted to see Spartan Stadium first (as we went earlier just to play around) he's a football fan and a history buff. Shockingly this little town's stadium (then called Universal Stadium) has a semi pro team that played the freaking Green Bay Packers in 1936 in that stadium before the team was sold and became the Detroit Lions. Luckily Shawnee U is fighting to take over and use the stadium as it is an art deco structure filled with history (the town nearly tore it down)
For context, Portsmouth has a huge narcotics issue (getting better) and stopped being relevant as both an industrial and port town 100 years ago. They're struggling back now and the historic downtown is pretty vibrant (so good on them)
And I wanted to see Mound park (turns out at Christmas when I went there in the dark after work I had went to a restaurant right across the street) It's the only remaining earthwork in the area. It's a horseshoe structure with zero historical info there but it was good to see it.
I had wanted to see the murals on the flood wall but TH had heart surgery last year and I could see he was getting tired so we got coffee and went to the show an hour early (first come first served seating on the river bank). He had fishing chairs for us and I'm glad we didn't do the mural walk because there were NO paths down to the river without cutting down the hilly grassy embankment. Down wasn't too bad. Up was rough.
This boat was the whole stage. They had some musicians and the rest put on something between cirque du soleil and a comedy act. It was fun. We were mutant fish (the audience) playing along. There was a lot to see (pictures tomorrow). You know that act where a woman swings by her hair in the air? This is the first time I've seen it with a guy doing the same thing. If you're on the OH river in OH/IN/KY check the schedule. It's worth it and it's donation only so pay what you can.
Th remembered Rapid Fire Pizza and wanted to go there (I had other plans but I don't say no to pizza) I've never been there before. It's basically like subway's only pizza. Put what you want on it and they fire it up. It was surprisingly good.
Let's continue with the Music Monday Alphabet theme with sharing songs that begin with a certain letter. Feel free to chime in with your favorite song(s) that follow the weekly letter. Hit me with your faves. This week's letter is R (still behind on listening to your offerings but keep sending them)
In no particular order, this one (If I had had a daughter I had thought of this as a name)
Swear I should have this playing before I take the podium to do my sabbatical presentation (since we still don't see this for women doctors)
was there any dance at the student union in my college that DIDNT have this in rotation
I just saw a meme for older rockers riffing off this the other day
How many times do we think Spike saw Billy before adopting his look
What can I say? I was a hair band gal
I'll be honest I don't think this band deserves the hate it gets. Also this has LDP
I find this video deeply weird but I love the message of the song
A fan song for Arackniss but since that little bastard took over my
wipbigbang (no 65K and climbing) I put it here because it's actually quite good. I'm amazed at the fan songs that are coming out for The Owl House/Critical Role/Hellaverse (and more I'm sure)

The reason I didn't include Raspberry Beret is silly. in the 80s I went on a h.s. bus tour down to D.C. and this girl (I can't even remember who now) had a 90 minute cassette tape with NOTHING but that song on it and played it on her boom box loudly until finally there was a revolt. It still drives me nuts.
I didn't know rabbit heart (I liked it) and that was probably one of the Franz Ferdinand song I can see me liking

Yeah, I just love "Rabbit Heart" (puts me in the mind of Madoka Magica still to this day...). "Right Action" is definitely more one of their you songs.
