since i'm having trouble commenting to anyone...
So I went to see the back doctor today. As predicted, Holzer STILL failed to get my x-rays to Holzer Jackson. Wasted 15 minutes there as the receptionist tried to help. This time Holzer Gallipolis wanted my medical record number. Even the receptionist was like WTF? Who the hell knows that. Here's my birthdate, that's enough. They thought maybe it went to Holzer CLINIC not the hospital but the clinic wouldn't pick up the phone and I said screw it.
Then I forgot how arrogant orthopedic surgeons are (HOW I don't know, i used to work so closely with the breed). I explained my symptoms in medical terms. He made a face at me and scrabbled through my personl info to see what I did for a living. It seemed to just piss him off. Sigh. But he said what I already knew once we got the x-rays which do look fairly normal. (in fact I do NOT think the pain in my shoulders is from arthritis in my neck, there's hardly any lipping)But the numbness in my leg isn't treatable unless there's an actual herniation of a disc.
Though he was first inclined to blame the diabetes (as if a unilateral lumbar radiculopathy would be likely as a neuropathy) until I pointed out this was a RECURRANCE of symptoms last felt when i used to stand for hours at the operating table. So...herniation is still the likely culprit but it's not on x-ray. I get to go for an EMG (this is fun, they shove needles into your nerves and test how fast you conduct the electricity they run into the needles. Who the fuck invented this test, the Marquis de Sade?) PT (need to call my brother and set it up wiht him) and an MRI (if my crappy insurance will pay for it).
Then i found a chinese buffet in chillicothe...worse than the one in Gallipolis. Gah, that's the WORST part of living here. No good food. Bob Evans is haute cusine.

Date: 2007-05-22 09:42 pm (UTC)Well, I have heard that doctors make the worst patients, but I don't know if that's true in your case.
