Roy actually DID refuse to come into the apartment. I think he's mad over the kitten (he's in now, now that the kids are outside 'petting' him)

went to drop off some mail in my box only to find that the mail came early and left me a note about them failing to give me my boxes (WHY they left a note rather than just bring me the damn boxes I have no idea) so I truck to the post office and get the boxes, the ones I specifically asked about last week when i came home.

I ran up to get my chinese pant suit from the drycleaners who couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was (and my neighbor also loved it, wanted to go with me as my date). Dropped off clothing at Goodwill

Went to the library to get Odd Hours only to find a) 5 episodes of the manga version of Emma (i took 1 &2) b) that Phantom Prey had also come in, naturally so I have two one-weekers to read in a week.

went to Wal-Mart for flipflips (had none) and black shorts (had none) and summer PJ's (had none), in fact I'd like to chastize the crap out of the Jackson Wally World. Have you LOOKED at your clientele? Have you? I'm average to smaller than average in size compared to them and yet you have almost COMPLETELY removed the plus sizes. WTF?? In fact you have NO lingerie above a 14. And the plus size clothing has been reduced to a few white stag shirts and some capri pants. It boggles the mind

got home to start cleaning. Cleaning ended when I dropped my drippings can on the stove. It naturally went into a burner, under the burner, through the drain hole into the stove and finally into the storage area under the stove. HOW much oil can be in a soup can? It took forever to clean that up!

So what was in the boxes? The replacement watermelon for the broken one but it's half dead since it was at the post office for a freaking week or more. and EARLY BIRTHDAY GIFTS!

Whee! thanks to [livejournal.com profile] scarlette_hawk for the really nice bath set and the candle collection and to [livejournal.com profile] 0_mother_0 for the cool tapas cookbook.

Then I get a phone call from Mom. Go outside and look for DHL. Huh? Your birthday gift. They can't find you. They called here looking for the house. I open the door and there's the poor DHL dude going apt to apt. I was babbling to mom about that Dr. Who usb port [livejournal.com profile] wildrider got so mom got it for me for my birthday.

Speaking of Who, Mom was talking to me on the phone later in the evening and said, 'Oops gotta go. I was the back up plan if your dad didn't get away from his brother. I have to go get him in time to watch Dr. Who. Once again I take backseat to a SF show.

Yay for early prezzies! Seriously, I can't even buy a bathing suite this season cuz they're all too skimpy. Don't even get me started on clothing.

it isn't even a matter of a skimpy cut, they literally are NOT carrying anything over a large

I know! Mom says to try Boscov's but I don't have my hopes up. Especially since it's an hour away and I'm short on time these days.

I'm confused. The kitten is staying with you? I thought you found a shelter or something to take it in?

OMG I want that TARDIS usb port, and that remote control Dalek. I'm such a nerd.

the kitten is gone but it was in here for an hour while i made calls to get it to a shelter. Roy has refused to come in

as for the Tardis, I'm wondering what the mains adaptor is and why one piece of accompanying paper says I can use with or without but a slip of paper the size of a chinese fortune cookie says I must use it to optmize the port. I'm assuming it's the long cord with the usb on the end

i'm wondering if pine nuts are cheaper in europe. Every time I see Every Day Italian and in this cook book, they're using them like they were 5$ a skinny tube of them.

i was so ticked about that drippings jar

Well, I'm not sure if they're cheaper in Europe, but recipe books seldom care about price or even availability. You can always do your own substitutions (I usually have to).

Try chopped walnuts - I saw Ina Garten make pesto with them this morning.

i don't like their acrid taste much and I can be occasionally (yes, just occasionally as is my brother) allergic to their oils

Weird... I have some odd, occasional allergies like that too and have been told my whole life that it isn't even possible. I've always known better (because I've experienced it first hand). One day I'd eat a banana and be fine, another day I'd break out. The same goes with bath salts. Sometimes I break out from them, other times I'm fine (and it's the same product each time). Body chemistry is amazing.

banana is another one. Lots of people I know go through this. and yeah always told can't happen.

Hello, some days I can eat a banana/walnut and i'm fine (hell I can have banana bread with walnuts and be fine) and some times I can have them and my tongue swells. I'm wondering if it's not to do wiht where these things are grown or something in their oils

So what's your opinion on the 'Odd' series? I have 'Odd Thomas' at home but haven't read it yet. I started another book but can't seem to get into so I was debating on reading something else. Good book?

Date: 2008-06-16 02:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
I'm beginning to think the Odd series is like STar Trek movies were only half are good and in this case the Odd numbered Odd's (ha) are good and the even numbered ones are weak.

Odd Thomas and Odd #3 were great. Odd#2 was a slog to get through and so far Odd#4 isnt engaging me at all but over all Odd is a fascinating character even if not all of the books in the series are great (but I guess that's true of any series)

they're definitely different than Koontz's usual, far more urban fantasy than horror
