It's not traveling I dislike

cornerofmadnessIt's the physical act of getting there. For the most part I love to travel. I just have the worst luck in the actual geting where I'm going. Finally got the air flight straightened out. Here's the rub, i was able to put in my seats on the way home and if I wanted the upgrade to economy on the side (instead of dead center in the cattle car) it was 80 bucks but I'm on the way home, who cares?
On the way over I STILL can't get a seat assignment for pitt to Detroit (which makes me NERVOUS) and to get to the economy on the side (the two seaters) its well over 100$. I asked WHY since it's the same damn airline. Naturally Delta has no answer and I'm also stuck in the dead middle. I think I might need to order 2 bottles of vodka and couple cans of V8 and pretend I have Bloody Marys.
But seriously I'm worried about that inability to give me a seat assignment from here to Detroit. I'm very nervous it's sold out and I'll get bumped. I know I won't relax about that until I'm actually in Detroit on time. THIS is the kind of thing that really works up my anxiety (i.e. shit I can't control but want to anyhow).
In better news, it was glorious here weather wise.I see it's still cold and raining buckets in Wales and looks like it will all week (not that I trust the weatherman to be right).
I tried to decide what I might like to see in London. The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, High Gate, Kew Palace/Gardens, ghost walk, Hampton Court palace. I know I can't see everything. I figure if I see half of this, I'll be happy. I need to get a converter in Wales for the electricals. Figures I can't find one here. Also they REALLY want me to go to Trinity St David's but the contact can't meet us until hours after we wanted.sigh.
Just found out on FB that one of my favorite professors in medical school died of cancer.
Debating if I'll be doing any fanfic challenges this fall or not. It's going to be a hard semester. Speaking of fanfic, has anyone else suddenly have archive of our own in your header info on LJ?
