Yay! Soup weather is on the way. Can't wait.
Happy Birthday
dragonydreams! Hope it was a great day.
Am worried about my good friend from med. school. She's been posting a lot of pictures of her beautiful home then said she was on medical leave. when I asked, she said constrictive pericarditis. Am not pleased to hear that. It can be very dangerous as you might imagine.
Note to self: when reheating brisket in the microwave a paper towel is inadequate protection. Way to blow meat all over the damn place. I hate microwaves. Seriously.
I posted a story for Never Forget Day. I haven't posted fanfic in nearly a year. I didn't last year either. I don't know what's wrong with me.
Speaking of fiction, Nano's site LOST all my goddamn novels and info since I first started. It thinks I just started 3 years ago. Cries. this would have been my 10th year but now it's gone. Sigh. Thanks for nothing.
Kanda is REALLY pushing it. I was petting him then saw his 'I'm overstimulated big pupils'. I started to withdraw my hand and he bit me, drew blood and when I tucked my arm up he bit my thigh then jumped up into the task chair, swatted my shoulder and ran off. He's going to go live with the coyotes pretty soon.
My brother insists he's coming next week. God HOW am I cleaning this place? Mom's like don't. Oh, right, sure. My brother the neat nick and possibly Mom too and I'm going to leave this place like this? Dad's laughing. He can't wait to hear how much my brother thinks this whole area sucks. It does. Major donkey balls.
A student slept through her alarm so she says and missed the practical it took me 3 hours to set up and wants to take it later. If I wasn't already doing this for a student who went home for a religious holiday...
Texas almost gets cool
declutter day 269 item tossed -Butterfly #1 why kept-Wanted to read why tossed -Purging the collection, seems like this never went beyond #1

Date: 2014-10-04 05:27 am (UTC)I don't know about brisket specifically, but I have found it useful when reheating most meats via nukulator to use a damp paper towel. Keeps it from drying out.

Date: 2014-10-05 04:36 am (UTC)Could be. I use the method for leftover steaks. I like them rare, so nuking with the damp paper towel seems to keep them from making them to done while warming them up. Brisket ain't steak though. You could be right about it. I hope the mess wasn't to bad. (Hates having to clean a mess out of the nukulator. May get an industrial kitchen nuke next time because of the ease in cleaning compared to domestic ones)

Date: 2014-10-05 06:45 am (UTC)I cook almost nothing in the microwave now. It's for reheating things. LOL. and ramen. I occasionally make ramen in it.

Date: 2014-10-05 06:25 pm (UTC)Dur? Really I think there are now people who actually don't use their stoves at all. I also think most of those people are people who don't really know how to cook and probably "cook" mostly of of boxes. I can't stand that stuff. I can always taste the chemicals in it. I find that cooking from fresh ingredients is generally cheaper anyway and sure tastes better. Especially since I switched from Teflon plastic coated cookware to cast iron. Matter of fact I have a nice Wagner #8 frying pan that I would sell off anyone wanted to buy it. I picked it up in a thrift store and reconditioned it, but I don't need it myself. I have two other #8 pans.

Date: 2014-10-05 06:44 pm (UTC)Actually that whole pre-packaged food stuff is what I put in to study on this years research grant looking at pre-packaged vegterian and gluten-free on people with diabetes, hypertension gluten-issue and estrogen-sensitive breast cancer in an attempt to show one-size does not fit all nutritionally AND that in either diet type cooking your own is still better

Date: 2014-10-05 07:30 pm (UTC)I totally agree with that. The gluten free diet is all the rage now, and honestly I'm not sure it's really healthy if the person doesn't have a specific need to avoid gluten. I've found that staying lower carb is better for me because I'm insulin resistant, but as far a weight loss, I am learning that I just have to eat less. It doesn't matter so much what I eat as long as I don't indulge in too much on my plate (which is often my temptation because I do like to eat LOL.) If there is less on my plate I also tend to eat slower and enjoy it more.
Did you see the study this guy did where all he ate was twinkies? He carefully worked out the caloric intake and lost weight on the Twinkie diet. He doesn't recommend it. He was just trying to prove a point. Obviously it wouldn't be a good choice for either of us, but I find I'm okay if I get a Rice Crispy Treat once in a while. They only have 150 calories.

Date: 2014-10-05 07:57 pm (UTC)Most gluten free is rice and potato starch so I can't think it can be good for diabetics
no I missed that diet but you're right mostly less intake is what is needed

Date: 2014-10-06 01:41 am (UTC)The front facing camera on my phone isn't all that great. It's awkwardly placed almost all the way to the corner. The regular camera takes great pictures. It had a 13 mpx camera. You might have seen the differential grasshopper pix I took a couple of months ago. I could get pretty close and get a lot of detail. But the front facing camera is only 2 mpx? It does ok for a selfie, but our seems like the front cameras are degrading. My Atrix had 3 mpx on front. Apparently 2 mpx is becoming the standard for the front camera and I don't really get why that would be the case.
And my gosh that picture is HUGE! I can't imagine how big a 13 mpx shot would be if I posted it here! lol.

Date: 2014-10-08 06:40 pm (UTC)That really sucks that Nano lost so many years of your stories. They had no explanation and no attempts of recovery?

Date: 2014-10-08 06:54 pm (UTC)The explanation was they addeded new features (but only because I aked an ML (who leads local groups) and they sent an email abou t'hiccups' but didn't say what the hiccup was
