Yay! Soup weather is on the way. Can't wait.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams! Hope it was a great day.

Am worried about my good friend from med. school. She's been posting a lot of pictures of her beautiful home then said she was on medical leave. when I asked, she said constrictive pericarditis. Am not pleased to hear that. It can be very dangerous as you might imagine.

Note to self: when reheating brisket in the microwave a paper towel is inadequate protection. Way to blow meat all over the damn place. I hate microwaves. Seriously.

I posted a story for Never Forget Day. I haven't posted fanfic in nearly a year. I didn't last year either. I don't know what's wrong with me.

Speaking of fiction, Nano's site LOST all my goddamn novels and info since I first started. It thinks I just started 3 years ago. Cries. this would have been my 10th year but now it's gone. Sigh. Thanks for nothing.

Kanda is REALLY pushing it. I was petting him then saw his 'I'm overstimulated big pupils'. I started to withdraw my hand and he bit me, drew blood and when I tucked my arm up he bit my thigh then jumped up into the task chair, swatted my shoulder and ran off. He's going to go live with the coyotes pretty soon.

My brother insists he's coming next week. God HOW am I cleaning this place? Mom's like don't. Oh, right, sure. My brother the neat nick and possibly Mom too and I'm going to leave this place like this? Dad's laughing. He can't wait to hear how much my brother thinks this whole area sucks. It does. Major donkey balls.

A student slept through her alarm so she says and missed the practical it took me 3 hours to set up and wants to take it later. If I wasn't already doing this for a student who went home for a religious holiday...

Texas almost gets cool

The friend of ELD and mine who committed suicide was just as shocked that I was upset there was no oven in the house he let me rent. I still cooked most of my food in a skillet on a hot plate.

Actually that whole pre-packaged food stuff is what I put in to study on this years research grant looking at pre-packaged vegterian and gluten-free on people with diabetes, hypertension gluten-issue and estrogen-sensitive breast cancer in an attempt to show one-size does not fit all nutritionally AND that in either diet type cooking your own is still better

I totally agree with that. The gluten free diet is all the rage now, and honestly I'm not sure it's really healthy if the person doesn't have a specific need to avoid gluten. I've found that staying lower carb is better for me because I'm insulin resistant, but as far a weight loss, I am learning that I just have to eat less. It doesn't matter so much what I eat as long as I don't indulge in too much on my plate (which is often my temptation because I do like to eat LOL.) If there is less on my plate I also tend to eat slower and enjoy it more.

Did you see the study this guy did where all he ate was twinkies? He carefully worked out the caloric intake and lost weight on the Twinkie diet.  He doesn't recommend it.  He was just trying to prove a point. Obviously it wouldn't be a good choice for either of us, but I find I'm okay if I get a Rice Crispy Treat once in a while.  They only have 150 calories.

It is and there is SO much disinformation out there on gluten. There is a claim that gluten causes 55 diseases so says the New England Journal of Medicine. Problem is I can NOT find that article in the journal. And that seems almost ridiculously high amount. As in I teach pathology and I'm not even sure I could list out 55 diseases

Most gluten free is rice and potato starch so I can't think it can be good for diabetics

no I missed that diet but you're right mostly less intake is what is needed

I can't see it as I'm not a subscriber

ETA: I stand corrected. I didn't scroll down far enough, but I could see a preview of the first page. Don't know if it's the only page or not.

You're welcome.  I heard about the Twinkie guy on the radio on NPR.  Probably All Things Considered or something like that.
